I LOVE to look at the enormous variety of candy here. But can you imagine all the grubby little hands stealing into the buckets of sweets, all day long, pawing treats that their parents aren't going to buy them? I witnessed this all the time when I worked at the theater as a teenager. That's why I only took candy when we had freshly stocked it ourselves. And yes, that soldier is covered entirely with jellybeans. So magical.

The most impressive toys are the stuffed animals. They're really beautiful.

And the girls tending to the newborns were dressed as nurses, too, although these babies look like they're about six months old.

Mom, enjoying a cup of coffee at P. Commune. I insisted on taking her here, and we had an exquisite brunch. Then I asked if they were hiring. A couple nights later I was training, and was never called back again. Now I'm too embarrassed to walk back in there. It sucks because their food is amazing. Sigh. But it's not like I don't have choices. Some of the most delicious food I've ever had has been in the city. Fantastic food abounds in NYC.
